Biomagnetic pair therapy can have side effects such as a healing crisis, where the individual experiences moderate uncomfortable symptoms for up to 24 hours after a treatment session. There have also been some reports about mild discomfort at the magnet placement site,  or problems for people with pacemakers or other implanted devices. Magnets should be used cautiously as to not snap them on the skin which may cause bruising or worse and it should not be used as a substitute for medical care.
